Our PON Patents

We all know how destructive computer hacking can be. There is no limit to the damage that a determined hacker can inflict on an individual, a corporation, a network or a network of networks. It is safe to say that the level of sophistication of hacking today is such that it is nearly impossible for hacking to be prevented. What is important is to do everything possible so that, in case of a hacking attack, the damage is minimized and contained.

In the year 2011, SPADA conceptualized the information security method that involved the transport across a Passive Optical Network (PON) of IP based voice, video, and data signals that were virtually separated and thus isolated in accordance to the RFC 4364 Standard – BGP/MPLS IP Virtual Private Networks (VPNs).

In order to verify the validity of that instant invention, SPADA contracted the services of the Information Security Business Unit of Science Application Information Corporation (SAIC) to test and validate this SPADA proposed method. Once this was accomplished, SPADA submitted in 2012 its patent application. Eight years later, Patent # 10904649 was issued on January 26, 2021. Following that, Patent # 11070898 was issued on July 20, 2021, Patent # 11589142 was issued on February 21, 2023 and Patent # 11968483 was issued on April 23, 2024.
